The PrecisionX Technology Desktop Agent provides several critical functions supporting the PrecisionX Technology desktop management and support services offerings, as detailed within this section.
The Desktop Agent is of critical importance to the proper operation of the PrecisionX Technology monitoring and management system. If it is uninstalled or disabled, the ability to detect and respond to critical security and operational issues will be degraded or eliminated.
The Desktop Agent should be installed on all computers which will be monitored and/or supported by PrecisionX Technology. The PrecisionX Technology team will assist in setting up the Desktop Agent and deploying it on your organizations computers.
Once installed, the Desktop Agent will run "in the background" whenever the computer is turned on, and facilitate the monitoring of the computer whenever it is connected to the Internet.
Computer Health and Security State Monitoring
The Desktop Agent monitors the state and health of the computer, and generates alerts whenever monitored parameters fall outside of configured tolerances. The parameters which the Desktop Agent monitors includes:
CPU utilization
Memory utilization
Storage device utilziation
Disk encryption status
Firewall status
Antivirus status
The thresholds for CPU, memory, and storage utilization can be configured to account for computers that routinely have high utilization, or that should always be kept below certain utilization levels. If internal policies require that a computer not have disk encryption, firewall, or antivirus protection, these checks can be disabled on a case-by-case basis.
Desktop Tray Icon
The Desktop Agent also provides a tray icon which can assist the end user in contacting the PrecisionX Technology Helpdesk Team. See Using the Desktop Agent for more information. Remote Support Capabilities
The Desktop Agent provides the PrecisionX Technology Helpdesk Team with the ability to connect to the terminal of the computer, allowing the Helpdesk Team to provide real-time support, assistance, and application troubleshooting to your users.
